On September 7 2025, a total lunar eclipse was visible over Europe, Africa, Australia and New Zealand, Southeast and Central Asia, the east coast of Brazil, and northern Antarctica. The so‑called “Blood Moon” is a major astronomical event. We had the chance to photograph the Blood Moon over Frankfurt. First covered by clouds, the Moon revealed its beauty toward the end of the event. We also took advantage of the opportunity for some early‑hour stargazing. The following constellations and their stars were photographed: Aquila (Altair, Reda, Tarazed), Cepheus (Alderamin), Cygnus (Deneb, Sadr, Fawaris, Aljanah, Gienah Cygni), Delphinus, Draco, Sagitta, Hercules, Lacerta, Lyra (Vega), Pegasus (Matar), Equuleus, and Vulpecula. We can also see the stars Fidis, Arided, Aridif and the nebulae Veil Nebula (NGC 6960) and North America Nebula (NGC 7000).
